NEW World Cinema Spring 2009 Series

We open our Summer Series this week with the Indian film TAHAAN. As usual there will be two shows on Sunday and Monday, May 24th and 25th at 7:00 PM at the Fox Cinema.

Though the backdrop of Tahaan is the strife torn picturesque Kashmir, its theme is universal. How the armed conflicts all over the word not only affect the lives of the common people, who have nothing to do with those wars, but steal away the innocence of children   

June 28 & 29, 2009 - The Golden Door (Italy)

Salvatore, a poor farmer, and a widower from Silcily, decides to immigrate to the US with his family. Before they embark, they meet Lucy, a British lady who wants to come back to the States and wants to marry someone before she arrives at Ellis Island. Salvatore accepts the proposal.

July 26 & 27, 2009 - The Silly Age (Cuba)

Samual arrives in Havana with his recently divorced mother to live with his eccentric grandmother. Samuel is introduced to a new, mysterious world. the house has rooms where entry is prohibited and cupboards filled with images of saints. At first Samuel's relationship with his grandmother is strained but she soon discovers a kindred spirit in her grandson.

Diversity Circles
We are working on a schedule for Diversity Circles. Email us at info@foxcitiesmulticultural.org if you are interesting in being a participant or facilitator for a future Diversity Circle.

 


The Center offers members:

  • a conference room for organizational meetings
  • a program room for larger group events, with access into Harmony Cafe space if needed
  • shared office space, with work cubicles and office equipment and on-site storage of organization materials
  • an administrative home address, with access to phone/voicemail and internet/email
  • a front desk/reception area, to serve as a welcoming “front door” for walk-in visitors looking for information or to connect with member organizations.
The Center’s resources also include:
  • an active committee structure and staff director to serve as a connecting point with area multicultural organizations and volunteers
  • on-site staff counsel and services for member organizations for board development, fundraising, volunteer management and other nonprofit issues.
